Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior affirmed that it will not allow any violation of state institutions or threats to the rule of law. The prestige of the state and the rule of law are untouchable red lines.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Interior detailed a serious incident that occurred at a department of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Karkh district. This incident coincided with the commencement of duties by a new director. During an administrative meeting, an armed group stormed the department building, causing panic among employees who urgently called for assistance from security forces.

The statement further elaborated that detachments from the Federal Police and Karkh Rescue Patrols responded to the scene, where they were met with gunfire from the assailants. This confrontation led to injuries among several officers and personnel.

Security forces were able to arrest 14 gunmen involved in the incident. Intensive security operations are ongoing in the area, overseen by senior leaders, to apprehend the remaining perpetrators and ensure they face justice. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its stance that it will not tolerate any attempts to impose control by force or threaten state institutions. It emphasized its commitment to protecting security and stability with determination.
