Baghdad: The Ministry of Labor is finalizing preparations for the distribution of food baskets to nearly seven million beneficiaries. The Social Protection Authority at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has announced the completion of procedures necessary for preparing these food baskets for citizens covered by social protection assistance. This step follows the completion of auditing and updating beneficiary data, which has been electronically submitted to the Ministry of Trade.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the procedures were carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Trade to ensure the availability of food basket items for those covered by social protection. This initiative aims to support beneficiary families and meet their basic food needs. The Ministry of Trade is set to begin preparing the food baskets starting tomorrow, Sunday, August 9, 2026, in anticipation of their distribution to those included in the approved data by the Social Protection Authority. The Authority emphasized that these procedures are part of efforts to support families covered by the social protection system and enhance the support provided to them.
