Baghdad: The Ministry of Planning continues to discuss project priorities for the governorates in preparation for the annual investment plan for 2027. The Ministry of Planning continued its discussions on Sunday regarding the investment plans of the provinces for the upcoming year, 2027, with the aim of assessing the actual commitments of these provinces and identifying their development priorities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Mohsen Al-Sayed, Director General of the Regional and Local Development Department at the Ministry, stated that the Ministry is continuing its discussions on the investment plans for the provinces for the upcoming year, 2027, within the framework of implementing the government program and the Ministry’s efforts to apply the indicators of national and local development plans, with their spatial and sectoral dimensions.

He explained that the Ministry is continuing its discussions with representatives of the provinces, and today’s discussions included the plans of Kirkuk, Babylon, and Diwaniyah provinces, reviewing their proposals and development priorities for the 2027 plan. He added that the meeting included detailed discussions of the governorates’ proposals and their plans for 2027, as well as discussions of allocations for ongoing projects that were included in previous years and their financial allocations, with the aim of taking this into account in the 2027 budget.

He pointed out that stalled projects and their funding mechanisms were reviewed to resume work on them and complete them as soon as possible, stressing the importance of considering spatial development gaps to ensure fairness in the distribution of projects among districts and sub-districts according to the priorities of the current and future phases, especially infrastructure projects (services such as water, sanitation, roads, and health).
