Basra: A Basra Governorate official has reported that the fire at the petrochemical power plant was minor, and power lines have been gradually restored. Basra Provincial Council member Aqeel al-Fariji announced that the incident was caused by a transformer malfunction at the plant on the Khor road, leading to a temporary shutdown of power lines as a precautionary measure. The fire was promptly managed and extinguished, and power has now been fully restored.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mazen Abdul-Razzaq, Director General of the General Company for Petrochemicals in Basra, clarified that the fire did not occur at the petrochemical plant itself but rather at the Khor secondary substation. This incident resulted in a power outage affecting parts of the Zubair district. Authorities are actively working to address the issue and restore services swiftly.
