Modernization of Tax System Initiated by Iraqi Finance Ministry

Accra:Finance Minister Falih Sari has launched the country’s first electronic tax assessment system, marking a significant move towards modernizing tax administration.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the new system was introduced during Minister Sari’s visit to the General Commission for Taxes, with several Directors General from the Ministry of Finance in attendance. This initiative is part of the government’s broader program to adopt digital transformation within financial administration.

The electronic system aims to improve tax operations’ efficiency by allowing major taxpayers to complete assessments and payments electronically, eliminating the necessity for physical visits to the Commission’s headquarters. It also includes features for electronic document storage, archiving, and facilitates audits and compliance reviews of tax declarations, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and protecting public treasury rights.
