Mosul: The mayor of Mosul has announced an ambitious environmental plan to plant new forests and expand green spaces throughout the city. This initiative aims to enhance the local environment and mitigate pollution.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mosul Mayor Hisham al-Hashemi revealed that the local government is moving forward with efforts to increase green spaces by planting thousands of trees across various locations on both the right and left banks of Mosul. The plan includes designating suitable areas to be transformed into urban forests, which will offer a refuge for families and contribute to improving the local climate.
Al-Hashemi emphasized that this initiative is being carried out in collaboration with municipal departments, relevant authorities, and community organizations. He explained that the project would also focus on rehabilitating neglected areas and converting them into organized green spaces.
