Najaf: The Friday prayer leader in Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qubanchi, has expressed strong support for the Iraqi government’s decision to terminate the presence of coalition forces in the country, emphasizing that the move is both appropriate and constitutional.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during his political sermon at the Friday prayers, al-Qubanchi emphasized that the decision should not be delayed or reversed. He stressed that it must not be confused with the issue of disarmament, which he considers a separate matter. Al-Qubanchi further mentioned that the disarmament issue should be addressed by the highest religious authority, which has been issuing fatwas on the matter since its inception.

He also addressed the rights of wounded members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), advocating for injury allowances. Al-Qubanchi argued that while there is ongoing discussion about providing only pensions, those who have sustained significant injuries, such as losing a limb, should receive both injury allowances and pensions. He urged the relevant authorities to approach this issue with increased empathy.
