National Coalition Calls for Justice on Iraq’s National Day

Accra:The National Coalition (Al-Wataniya) has underscored the importance of ensuring justice for victims and achieving fairness in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Coalition issued a statement on Iraq’s National Day, commemorating the anniversary of its accession to the League of Nations and its independence. The statement highlighted the sacrifices made by the Iraqi people to secure freedom, independence, and national sovereignty, and to build a state that upholds the dignity and rights of its citizens.

The Coalition emphasized that this national day arrives at a crucial moment for Iraq, calling for lessons to be drawn from its history, unity of efforts, and encouragement of dialogue and national partnership. These steps are seen as vital for consolidating state sovereignty, ensuring independent decision-making, and fulfilling the Iraqi people’s aspirations for security, stability, and a dignified life.

Ayad Allawi, leader of the National Coalition, also commemorated the anniversary of the Tishreen Revolution, praising the sacrifices of Iraq’s youth who pushed for reform, justice, and an end to corruption. He stated that these sacrifices will remain an enduring part of the national memory, illustrating the commitment of Iraqis, especially the youth, to their rights and a brighter future.

The Coalition reiterated its demand for a full disclosure of the events of the Tishreen Revolution, the identification of those responsible for the deaths and disappearances of protesters, and justice for the families of victims. It stressed that true honor for Iraq’s sacrifices is reflected in supporting state institutions, enforcing the rule of law, limiting arms possession to the state, protecting freedoms, and building a just and equal national state.
