Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi affirmed on Thursday that Iraq has become a meeting point for de-escalation and peacebuilding in the region.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the National Security Advisor stated that “National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi received the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Iraq, Antti Putkonen.” The meeting focused on strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Iraq and Finland in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their peoples, as well as reviewing the latest developments in the region.

The statement highlighted al-Aboudi’s emphasis that “Iraq has become a focal point due to its contribution to advocating for dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions and promote peace in the region.” He noted that “Iraq welcomes international investment companies.”

Al-Aboudi extended an invitation to Finnish companies to “come to Iraq,” highlighting that “the government of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi is working to diversify the economy and attract investment companies to improve the country’s economic situation.”

The Finnish Ambassador, on his part, expressed “his country’s support for Iraq in all fields, including the economic field.” He indicated that Iraq’s security and political stability contribute to attracting foreign investment companies to Iraq.
