Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi emphasized on Wednesday that the Iraqi government's top priorities include the economy, combating corruption, and ensuring that weapons are solely in the hands of the state.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Aboudi's office released a statement highlighting his meeting with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq. The discussions focused on enhancing the friendship and cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom to serve the mutual interests of both nations and their citizens.

Al-Aboudi noted that the Iraqi government has prioritized openness to both brotherly and friendly nations as part of its ministerial program, aligning with its balanced policy approach. He reiterated that the economy, anti-corruption measures, and state control over weapons are key priorities under Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi's administration. Al-Aboudi also stressed that regional stability and security will benefit Iraq, surrounding countries, and the international community. He emphasized Iraq's goal to foster regional and international peace through partnerships, diplomatic channels, and dialogue, which he views as essential for achieving sustainable peace.

The British ambassador, Irfan Siddiq, affirmed the United Kingdom's commitment to deepening relations with Iraq and expressed support for the Iraqi Prime Minister's reform agenda. He acknowledged the Iraqi government's efforts and its focus on targeted reforms.
