Baghdad: The General Company for Passenger and Delegation Transport announced the opening of the new public transport route (78), connecting New Baghdad to the holy city of Kadhimiya, passing through several important streets, squares, and vital facilities in the capital, Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company’s Director General, Karim Kadhim Hussein, stated that the establishment of this route comes under the directives of the Minister of Transport, Wahab al-Hassani. This initiative aims to expand the public transport network in Baghdad and its provinces, responding to the daily need of citizens for safe and comfortable means of transportation. The new route is expected to contribute to easing traffic congestion and reducing reliance on private transport.

The statement detailed that the route extends from New Baghdad, passing through Maysaloun Square, the Fashion House, the Police Academy, Palestine Street, Beirut Square Overpass, Al-Sakhra Intersection, reaching Al-Mawali Square near Imam Al-Sadiq University, then Al-Nidaa Mosque, Al-Mashatel Street, Antar Square, Omar Bin Abdul Aziz Street, Ras Al-Hawash, Abu Hanifa Square and Al-A’immah Bridge, finally reaching Al-Jawad Square, with vehicles returning along the same path.

The company confirmed that the opening of the route represents a new addition to the public transportation network in the capital. This comes as part of an ongoing plan to create new lines and routes, bringing public transportation closer to citizens and facilitating smoother connections between Baghdad’s districts.
