Istanbul: A new solidarity convoy has set off from France, marking the beginning of the longest land route supporting the Palestinian people's struggle, with plans to cross through Trkiye, Iraq, and Jordan. The general coordinator of the "Palestine Convoy" in Turkey, Hussein Durmaz, announced the convoy's readiness to embark on this mission from France on the 26th of this month, aiming to break the siege imposed on Palestine.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Durmaz, speaking at an introductory event in Istanbul, highlighted the determination of the organizers to continue their efforts to reach Palestine and the Gaza Strip. He noted the unprecedented global movements and resistance sparked by the world witnessing, for the first time, the "Zionist entity's massacres being broadcast live." Durmaz emphasized the importance of strengthening digital activism to keep the Palestinian cause on the global agenda, amidst ongoing violations of ceasefire agreements and a tight siege on Gaza by the Israeli occupation.
Daoud Taskiran, the coordinator of relations with civil society organizations in the delegation, explained that the convoy would first head to Bosnia and Herzegovina to organize support events with the Bosnian people. The convoy will then stop in Istanbul before visiting ten Turkish provinces: Bursa, Ankara, Konya, Adana, Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Mardin, and Sirnak to gather support and participation.
Taskiran further outlined the convoy's plan to reach Palestine via Iraq and Jordan, noting that this land route has never been attempted before. The journey promises great enthusiasm and participation, with training in civil activism and work for participating activists from Turkey and Europe planned in Istanbul. These efforts are seen as a glimmer of hope for Palestinians, demonstrating to the world that they are not alone.
The convoy is expected to gather wide participation from activists across 10 European countries, with the journey anticipated to take approximately 20 days to reach the occupied Palestinian territories.
