Baghdad: A new strategy aimed at developing the environmental sector and enhancing corporate governance was discussed in an expanded meeting chaired by Dr. Jawad Hamad Hamid Al-Jubouri, the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment. The meeting brought together the heads of departments within the ministry to deliberate on mechanisms to advance environmental work and ensure the sustainability of current approaches in managing environmental institutions. The initiative seeks to create a safe and efficient work environment capable of addressing current climatic and environmental challenges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Al-Jubouri highlighted the ministry’s role as the primary defender of Iraq’s environment. He underscored the importance of having a clear vision and objectives, aligning the daily tasks of staff with the nation’s comprehensive strategic vision. Additionally, the need to enhance transparency and empower administrative leaders with flexible powers was emphasized to optimize service delivery to citizens. The precise distribution of tasks based on technical expertise was also discussed as a vital element in improving workflow and outcomes.

Dr. Al-Jubouri further emphasized the importance of providing all necessary logistical support to ensure a smooth workflow and enhanced results. This includes building strategic partnerships with universities, academic institutions, civil society organizations, international bodies, and the supportive private sector, in line with the directives of Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. He also stressed the activation of specialized committees to produce practical recommendations aimed at regulating environmental activities and supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals across different sectors.
