Nineveh: Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil announced that swift measures are being taken, in coordination with the Director of the Iraqi Airports Authority, Hussein al-Zubaidi, and the Director of Mosul International Airport, Ammar al-Bayati, to prepare for the resumption of domestic flights through Mosul Airport starting next week.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this step comes in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, within a government plan aimed at reactivating vital infrastructure in the province and supporting air transport between Iraqi provinces.

The governor indicated that operating the airport will represent a qualitative leap in supporting economic, commercial, and tourism activity in Nineveh, stressing that all relevant authorities are continuing their work at an accelerated pace to complete the necessary technical and administrative preparations.

For his part, al-Zubaidi affirmed that the Iraqi Airports Authority has allocated all resources to ensure the airport’s readiness according to international standards, which will contribute to providing safe and distinguished services to passengers.

It is worth noting that Mosul International Airport has been out of service for many years due to security conditions.
