Nineveh: Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil discussed joint cooperation with the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Nicol² Fontana.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Dakhil emphasized Italy’s important role in supporting the Nineveh Governorate, particularly in areas such as liberation, relief, and displacement operations.
He highlighted the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Mosul as having a significant impact on restoring hope and peace to the city’s residents. Al-Dakhil noted that the Pope’s visit marked a turning point in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Iraq and Italy.
The Italian Ambassador expressed his pleasure at visiting Mosul for the first time and expressed his desire to open new opportunities for cooperation between Italian businessmen and the local government in Nineveh. Fontana emphasized that Italy would continue to support projects aimed at preserving historical sites and enhancing economic relations between Iraq and Italy.
