Seoul: North Korea has reportedly increased the number of anti-South Korean loudspeakers in the border areas between the two Koreas, a South Korean military official has revealed.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, an official from the Joint Chiefs of Staff indicated that each group of these loudspeakers consists of several smaller units, and there has been a partial increase in their numbers. The official noted that despite the increase, North Korea is not currently operating these anti-South Korean loudspeakers, suggesting the move is intended to enhance the sound output when they are eventually used.

Reports have highlighted that the increase in the number of loudspeakers began in May and June. This expansion continued even after the South Korean military halted its broadcasts through anti-North loudspeakers on June 11. The official further explained that North Korea’s actions preceded the South Korean military’s removal of its loudspeakers, suggesting it may have been part of a long-term strategy to boost loudspeaker output.

Furthermore, sources mentioned that while the South Korean military dismantled its loudspeakers in forward areas on August 4 and 5, the North has not yet followed suit.
