Baghdad: The Cabinet Secretariat has declared that all official working hours will be suspended next Tuesday in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Secretariat announced that Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, will be recognized as an official holiday across all ministries and government institutions. This decision coincides with the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, marking the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). The announcement is in line with Article (1/First/D) of the Official Holidays Law No. (12 of 2024).
