Basra: The Ministry of Oil announced the death of an employee of Basra Oil Company and the recording of four injuries in a fire at al-Zubair 1 warehouse.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that a leak occurred in one of the gas systems at al-Zubair 1 warehouse at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The leak was specifically located in the warehouse’s old pumping system, which resulted in a fire. Safety and firefighting personnel in the oil sector, along with Basra Governorate and all supporting agencies in the oil sector, were immediately mobilized to control the fire.

The ministry further reported that the fire area was partially contained, while efforts are still ongoing to fully extinguish it. Initial statistics indicate the death of one employee of the Basra Oil Company and four injuries. The ministry explained that such incidents require time to fully control and extinguish, and assured that the public will be informed of developments later.
