Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani, declared today the impending activation of the oil export file through the pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. In a meeting held on Thursday, Abdul Ghani underscored the significance of the joint Iraqi-Turkish committee’s work, particularly concerning oil and water issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Oil issued a statement highlighting that Abdul Ghani chaired the meeting, which included members from various Iraqi ministries. The minister emphasized the need to advance discussions on crucial files, especially those concerning water and oil.

The statement further noted Abdul Ghani’s emphasis on the necessity of activating the water file to secure a fair share of water releases for Iraq. He also pointed to the near-term activation of the oil export file via the Ceyhan pipeline, which could potentially increase exports from Basra oil through this route.
