Baghdad: Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair al-Abadi affirmed on Saturday that the government has taken significant measures to combat corruption through Operation Dawn, and that efforts to eradicate corruption are ongoing.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the ministry indicated that "Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair al-Abadi chaired a meeting during his visit to the Oil Products Distribution Company and met with senior staff to discuss the distribution sector and its importance, as it is the ministry's interface with the public. The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Director of the Oil Products Distribution Company, who is in charge of managing the company's operations; the Director General of the Gas Filling and Services Company; the Director General of the Technical Department; the Director General of the Internal Audit Department; the Director General of the Legal Department; the Deputy Director General of the Studies Department, who is in charge of managing the department's operations; the Deputy Director General of the Technical Department; and other deputy directors general and directors of departments and divisions within the company."

During the meeting, the minister stressed, according to the statement, that 'the citizen feels the importance of the ministry and the services provided through the distribution sector throughout the year, represented by the supply outlets and fuel filling stations spread across all governorates,' noting that 'any malfunction in the company's performance is reflected in the services provided to the citizen, therefore continuous review and follow-up are necessary, and quick solutions must be put in place for problems and obstacles,' pointing out that 'the soundness of the work in the company and the organization are evaluated by the citizen.'
