Oil Minister Seeks to Address Parliament on Ministry Plans


Baghdad: The Minister of Oil has formally requested to be hosted in the House of Representatives to explain the ministry’s plans on various issues. Oil Minister Bassem al-Abadi submitted a formal request to the Council of Representatives on Tuesday to appear before it, a move considered rare at the executive level.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Oil stated in a press release that Al-Abadi affirmed his readiness to answer all questions from members of the Council of Representatives and to clarify the ministry’s procedures and plans across various sectors. The statement added that this step reflects a move towards enhancing transparency and institutional cooperation and aims at informing Iraqi citizens of all details related to the work of the government institution.
