Oil Minister Stresses Importance of Addressing Obstacles and Increasing Production and Exports to Support the General Budget


Baghdad: Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair al-Abadi emphasized on Wednesday the necessity of addressing all obstacles hindering operations, particularly given the current circumstances that require increased production and exports to support the state’s general budget.



According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Oil stated in a press release that al-Abadi chaired the ninth session of the Advisory Board, attended by undersecretaries, advisors, and directors general of the ministry’s various departments.



The statement highlighted the minister’s stress on the importance of teamwork and addressing all obstacles facing operations, especially under the current circumstances that necessitate increased production and exports to support the state’s general budget.



Furthermore, the statement added that the Oil Minister conveyed Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi’s directives to provide full support to the Ministry of Oil and its staff, ensuring the implementation of projects and expediting their completion within the specified timeframes. The minister emphasized “the importance of continuously evaluating the performance of directors of departments within companies and ministry administrations, as well as members of company boards of directors, based on standards of integrity, dedication, and competence, emphasizing the need to continue efforts in combating corruption and strengthening the institutional work environment.”



He added that “the current phase is one of achievements,” calling on all sectors of the ministry to work at an accelerated pace and focus their efforts on implementing projects and achieving the required objectives, in a way that serves the oil sector and the national economy.
