Baghdad: The Ministry of Oil’s Midland Oil Company announced on Tuesday that it is opening the door for reputable companies to explore prospective blocks, noting that it is also moving toward reaching understandings with U.S. companies to develop gas fields in Diyala and Anbar provinces.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Midland Oil Company Director General Mohammed Yassin Hassan stated that the ministry will reassess its partners and exploration blocks. He explained that the areas currently available are exploration blocks, not established fields, and the ministry will open the door for reputable companies to explore these blocks.

Hassan added that reputable companies have begun contacting the ministry, noting a strong and promising vision for reaching understandings with U.S. companies, particularly regarding gas fields concentrated in Anbar and Diyala provinces.

He confirmed that work is nearing the launch of surface facilities at the Mansouriya Gas Field, a project awarded outside the licensing rounds. Hassan noted that Midland Oil Company seeks to achieve integration by establishing integrated gas production and processing units at the fields, given that the fields across Diyala and Anbar are widespread and numerous, and some may not be sufficiently large on their own, requiring integration with other fields.
