Maysan: The Director General of the Southern Electricity Distribution Company, Engineer Nash’at Kadhim Yassin, inaugurated the Al-Uzair and Al-Mu’ayl secondary substations (11/33 kV) of the “E-House” type, each with a capacity of 31.5 MVA. These substations aim to enhance network stability, alleviate bottlenecks, and improve electricity supply levels in the governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General emphasized that the operation of these two substations represents a significant addition to the electrical grid in Maysan, by balancing loads and reducing pressure on existing substations and feeders, as well as improving voltage levels and ensuring continuous supply in the Al-Uzair and Al-Mu’ayl areas and surrounding regions.

The new Al-Uzair substation, located 75 km south of Amarah city, will have five feeders and will also accommodate several feeders from the old mobile substation, thus enhancing network performance in the area.

In the Al-Mu’ayl area of Al-Kahla district, the new substation entered service after the completion of its civil works in 2025 and its electrical works in 2026. It currently operates with three feeders: Al-A’iwaj, Al-Mu’ayl, and Al-Tali’ah, out of a planned five. It will later receive several feeders from the old Al-Kahla substation.

The construction of both substations was carried out by the engineering and technical staff of the Maysan Electricity Distribution Branch, within the allocations of the Ministry of Electricity. This supports addressing bottlenecks, increasing network efficiency, and improving the continuity of electricity supply in the beneficiary areas.
