Baghdad: Pakistan has issued a stern warning to the Yemeni Houthi movement, emphasizing that any attack on ships flying the Pakistani flag or targeting Pakistani maritime interests will be deemed a threat to national security. The warning comes in response to recent provocations in the Red Sea region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the Houthis’ threats against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping activities in the Red Sea. The Houthis had recently announced an immediate maritime blockade targeting Saudi Arabia. Pakistan’s statement underscored that these threats against commercial shipping and trade with Saudi Arabia are unacceptable and contravene established international law principles.

Islamabad has voiced significant concerns regarding reports of threats to ships engaged in legitimate trade with Saudi Arabia. It highlighted that such actions pose a risk to regional security, undermine the freedom of navigation, challenge the established rules-based maritime order, and jeopardize the unfettered flow of global trade.
