Riyadh: A Pakistani military force has arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of the joint strategic defense agreement signed between the two countries, according to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Defense.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry indicated that the force arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base in the Eastern Province and consists of fighter and support aircraft from the Pakistani Air Force. The aim is "to enhance joint military coordination and raise the level of operational readiness between the armed forces of the two countries, thereby supporting security and stability at the regional and international levels."

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the joint strategic defense agreement on September 17 of last year.

In a joint statement at the time, the two countries affirmed that the agreement comes within the framework of their efforts to strengthen their security and achieve peace and security in the region and the world. It aims to develop aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and enhance joint deterrence against any aggression.

The agreement stipulates that any attack on either country is considered an attack on both.
