Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, has affirmed that Parliament is dedicating focused attention to the education file to align with contemporary needs.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Faihan’s media office revealed that an expanded meeting was held at his office in Baghdad on Monday. Attendees included the Directors General of Education for Karkh and Rusafa districts, MP Yasser Al-Saadi, and the Director General of Vocational Education, Salam Al-Jazaeri. The meeting aimed to assess the current state of the education sector, pinpoint its most pressing needs and challenges, and discuss preparations for the upcoming academic year.

During the meeting, Faihan reiterated the Council of Representatives’ commitment, during its sixth session, to prioritizing the education sector. He highlighted the importance of modernizing the educational system in response to current demands. Faihan explained that Parliament is committed to reviewing and updating legislation related to the education sector to overcome existing challenges, enhance the quality of education, and improve its standards and outcomes.

The statement further noted that Faihan instructed the Parliamentary Education Committee to organize workshops and joint meetings with the Ministry of Education, its directorates, and educational staff. The objective is to identify obstacles and formulate solutions to elevate the education sector’s performance, thereby fostering an educated generation capable of contributing to societal advancement.
