Baghdad: The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee met with Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Wednesday to discuss regional developments and their impact on Iraq, as well as the new Iraqi government’s regional and international policies. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the committee hosted Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to deliberate on several political and diplomatic issues, alongside regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The statement from the Ministry emphasized that Minister Hussein’s visit to Parliament was initiated by him, aiming to strengthen communication and institutional coordination. This visit also sought to open broader avenues for cooperation and dialogue between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee.
The Ministry outlined that Minister Hussein reviewed significant developments and events in the region, their repercussions on Iraq, and the new government’s policies on a regional and international scale. Efforts by the Ministry to inform the international community about the government’s priorities and policies, as well as to enhance Iraq’s international presence amid evolving challenges, were also highlighted.
Minister Hussein also briefed the committee on the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the United States, discussing key issues addressed during the visit. The meeting further delved into the outcomes of the Minister’s recent international visits, including to Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, and his discussions with foreign counterparts on bilateral and regional matters.
The statement concluded with an emphasis on topics of mutual interest, particularly the development and organization of cooperation and coordination mechanisms between the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
