Baghdad: Next week, Parliament will host the Minister of Electricity to discuss several pressing issues within the energy sector. This decision comes after the Parliamentary Energy Committee’s meeting, aimed at addressing key concerns related to energy.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee, chaired by MP Falah Saeed Jarmat and attended by several members, convened at the Parliament building to deliberate on forming a subcommittee tasked with drafting a renewable energy regulation law. The committee also reviewed the status of electricity transmission lines for interconnection with the Kurdistan Region and considered requests to host relevant authorities for further discussions.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed a communication from the office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament regarding the organization of meetings between members of parliamentary committees and blocs with prominent political figures, including the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council. The committee underscored the significance of following up on these matters and enhancing coordination with executive bodies to foster the development of the electricity sector and tackle prevailing challenges.
