Baghdad: The Parliamentary Legal Committee announced that the proposal to amend the Elections Law has reached the House of Representatives and will be discussed soon. The committee confirmed that the amendment has been submitted and is set for discussion in the coming days.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Committee Vice Chairman Mohammed Anouz stated that the proposal was submitted by a parliamentary bloc. The discussion is expected to take place after the resumption of Parliament sessions. Anouz emphasized that the law can be amended if the political majority within Parliament agrees on the changes.
He further noted that certain political blocs are seeking gains from the proposed amendments to the Elections Law. However, these blocs are accused of pursuing personal and factional interests rather than focusing on the interests of the Iraqi people.
