Baghdad: The Parliamentary Finance Committee convened a joint meeting with the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, on Sunday afternoon. The meeting aimed to address several issues related to financial statements and data, focusing on the outcomes of the Ministry of Finance’s government program. Key topics included the development of government banks, automation of customs and tax systems, and enhancements to the state’s general budget framework, as well as the drafting and development of financial laws.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions also covered the implementation of the budget for the years 2023 to 2025. The committee examined the actual revenues, both oil and non-oil, and the total expenditures spent on current and investment spending units. The meeting further reviewed the total amounts funded for these units, both current and investment, and the loans received domestically and internationally to address the financial deficit. Additionally, the meeting assessed the volume of sovereign and non-sovereign guarantees granted.

The committee also focused on the preparation of the 2025 budget tables, scrutinizing the criteria for their preparation and investigating the delays in their completion and submission to the Council of Representatives.
