Parliamentary Presidency and Heads of Blocs Meeting Emphasize Resolving the Issue of Parliamentary Committees and Activating Their Work


Baghdad: The Presidency of the Council of Representatives held a joint meeting today, Sunday, with the heads of parliamentary blocs to discuss a number of issues concerning the work of the Council during the coming period, as well as the importance of resolving the issue of the permanent parliamentary committees and activating their oversight and legislative roles.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the necessity of addressing challenges related to the functioning of parliamentary committees. The discussion underscored the committees’ vital role in both oversight and legislative processes, highlighting the need to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.



The meeting participants examined various proposals aimed at streamlining the committees’ operations. This includes clarifying their mandates and ensuring they have the required resources to perform their duties. The discussions also covered approaches to improving coordination among different committees to foster a more cohesive legislative framework.



The joint meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the Council to strengthen parliamentary procedures and ensure that all committees are fully operational and aligned with the overarching goals of the legislative body.
