Baghdad: The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee called on Thursday for the formation of a committee to investigate the fire at Camp Taji. Ali Anhir al-Sarai, a member of the committee, emphasized the need to uncover the true circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Sarai stated, “We have demanded the formation of a high-level committee regarding the Taji depot explosion to determine the true circumstances. Was it due to negligence, or, as is being rumored, a drone strike, or simply carelessness? Or are there indications of theft, with the explosion being deliberate to cover up those thefts?” These questions, al-Sarai explained, would be the focus of the newly formed committee.

The committee is set to commence its work next Sunday, aiming to address the various concerns and potential causes of the fire. The formation of this investigative body highlights the importance of accountability and transparency in dealing with such incidents.
