Baghdad: Plans to develop and modernize the Dhi Qar Refinery have been announced by Ammar Masad, the head of the Production Division at the refinery. The initiative aims to enhance the refinery’s performance and increase its production efficiency.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Masad highlighted that the Dhi Qar Refinery, despite being one of Iraq’s older refineries, remains operational due to the dedication of its personnel across various divisions, including production and maintenance. He explained that the refinery conducts emergency maintenance as needed during breakdowns and follows a ministry-set schedule for annual maintenance.
Masad further elaborated that the refinery receives its crude oil supply directly via the Strategic Pipeline from Basra Governorate. It has three crude oil storage tanks and additional tanks for storing various petroleum products.
The refinery’s products are distributed either through pumping or transported by tanker trucks, depending on the product type. Some products are also transferred through storage tanks to the Oil Pipelines Company or to distribution outlets.
Masad emphasized that both the Ministry of Oil and the Southern Refineries Company have put forth plans to develop the Dhi Qar Refinery. Continuous efforts are being made to enhance the refinery’s performance, upgrade its facilities, and boost its production efficiency.
