Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun engaged in discussions concerning the relations between Iraq and Lebanon, as well as the latest developments in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office revealed that the two leaders convened at the Government Palace in Baghdad. Their bilateral meeting focused on enhancing cooperation across various fields and addressing regional developments.

During the meeting, the leaders explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations, align common positions, and expand the constructive partnership between the two nations. They emphasized the importance of enhancing economic integration at different levels and increasing opportunities for productive communication between both the private and public sectors in Iraq and Lebanon.

The statement highlighted Prime Minister al-Sudani’s commitment to supporting Lebanon, emphasizing Iraq’s dedication to reinforcing Lebanese state institutions and standing by the Lebanese people. He reiterated Iraq’s rejection of any attack on Lebanon’s sovereignty or foreign interference that could undermine its independent will, pledging continued support to help Lebanon overcome current challenges.

Lebanese President Aoun expressed gratitude for Iraq’s supportive stance during Lebanon’s challenging times. He acknowledged Iraq’s role in strengthening Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability and appreciated efforts to expand cooperation for the benefit of the two nations.
