Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, engaged in discussions with an International Air Transport Association (IATA) delegation regarding the procedures needed to lift the European air ban on Iraqi Airways.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office highlighted that the meeting assessed Iraq’s ongoing efforts and specific procedures aimed at ending the European ban on the national carrier. The discussions focused on the implementation progress of a plan devised by a dedicated committee charged with meeting the criteria necessary for lifting the ban.

Further details from the statement revealed that discussions also delved into Iraq’s initiatives to enhance the airline’s operations, including automating processes across the company’s various sectors. There was emphasis on efforts to boost the capabilities of Iraqi Airways and improve the skills of its workforce, with a view to elevating service levels for both passengers and cargo.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani underscored the importance of this issue, emphasizing the need for continuous oversight of the committee’s efforts to lift the ban.
