Mosul: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has directed that Mosul Airport commence operations for domestic flights on November 1. The airport will initially connect to other Iraqi airports while the contract with the operating company is finalized.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s media office issued a statement noting that the airport is in the process of acquiring an operating license from the Civil Aviation Authority. In the meantime, domestic flights will be managed temporarily by the Airports Administration through self-management efforts.
The Ministry of Transport and Mosul Governorate, following the Prime Minister’s directives, are nearing the end of negotiations with international companies to equip the airport for international flights. This development aims to facilitate travel for citizens and travelers both within and outside Iraq.
