Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, expressed his aspirations for the 48th session of the Baghdad International Fair, aiming for it to foster productive partnerships and enhance cooperation to tackle challenges and promote economic growth. The Prime Minister emphasized the fair’s role as a hopeful and promising venue for drawing a map of prosperity and confident economic advancement.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani welcomed representatives from 1,250 companies participating in this year’s session, highlighting the involvement of 22 brotherly and friendly countries. He noted that the fair is taking place amidst Iraq’s active movement in sectors such as economy, industry, agriculture, infrastructure, services, and energy. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to measuring success through citizens’ satisfaction and positive engagement with the services provided by the executive apparatus, alongside deep-rooted economic reforms.

The Prime Minister elaborated on the importance of the fair as a forum for understanding and a platform where opportunities and offers converge, allowing companies to explore avenues for contributing to Iraq’s development. Al-Sudani also emphasized Iraq’s focus on an expansive urban movement in housing and a promising health sector, with efforts to complete stalled hospital projects and activate health insurance.

Al-Sudani highlighted the strategic development road from the port of Faw to the northern border and Turkey, linking Asia and Europe through Iraq and the Middle East. He noted that foreign investments in Iraq have surpassed 60 billion dinars, contributing to building relations and agreements with international partners and major global financial institutions.

Separately, Minister of Trade Athir Al-Ghariri confirmed that the government has achieved self-sufficiency in wheat and adopted strategic projects. During the opening of the fair, Al-Ghariri emphasized the facilitation of procedures for local and foreign investors, underscoring the government’s commitment to strategic development initiatives.
