Al-Qaim: The Border Ports Authority announced today the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle 3,803 narcotic pills at the Al-Qaim border crossing. The Authority’s efforts highlight ongoing measures to combat drug trafficking and protect citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Border Ports Authority detailed in a statement that the attempt was stopped by the Al-Qaim Border Port Directorate. Relying on precise information from the Anti-Narcotics Division, authorities intercepted the smuggling of 3,803 Captagon pills. These pills were cleverly concealed within a four-wheel drive vehicle operated by an Iraqi driver, aiming to transport them through the border.

A joint committee was subsequently formed to handle the situation. A formal seizure report was prepared, and both the driver and the confiscated narcotics were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Division. Legal actions are being pursued in line with established procedures to address this incident.
