Baghdad: President Nizar Amedi emphasized on Tuesday to US Embassy Charg© d’Affaires in Iraq Joshua Harris the importance of expanding cooperation and opening new avenues for partnership with the United States.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Presidency of the Republic indicated that ‘President Nizar Amedi received US Embassy Charg© d’Affaires in Iraq Joshua Harris. During the meeting, they discussed developments in regional and international affairs, as well as relations between Iraq and the United States.’

‘Amedi stressed the importance of expanding cooperation and opening new avenues for partnership, in a manner that contributes to supporting Iraq’s stability, strengthening its capabilities, achieving peace in the region, reducing tensions, and adopting dialogue as a means of ending conflicts,’ the statement said.

For his part, the US Embassy Charg© d’Affaires affirmed ‘his country’s keenness to continue developing relations with Iraq and cooperating in various fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of both countries.
