Baghdad: President of the Republic Nizar Amedi received Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Bikerd Talabani and her accompanying delegation at Baghdad Palace.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Media Department of the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting addressed several issues related to the agricultural sector and water resources. President Amedi affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in these areas, while underscoring the need to work together to address the challenges facing agriculture and water resources.

In this context, President Amedi noted that climate change, together with water scarcity and declining rainfall, is placing growing pressure on the agricultural sector. He stressed the importance of adopting sustainable approaches to water-resource management and developing agricultural practices that can support adaptation to these changes, while c
ontributing to the preservation of the country’s food and water security.

Minister Bikerd Talabani, for her part, briefed President Amedi on the situation of the agricultural sector and water resources in the Kurdistan Region. She highlighted the key needs and priorities in both areas and emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and coordination on issues of common concern.
