Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Nizar Amedi, received a delegation from the Iraqi National Women’s Team, led by its Coordinator, Dhifaf Thabit Al-Jarrah, at Al-Salam Palace on Tuesday. The discussions focused on the status of Iraqi women and strategies to enhance their role in public life.

According to Iraqi News Agency, President Amedi emphasized that empowering Iraqi women is crucial for state-building and achieving sustainable development. The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic conveyed in a statement that President Amedi highlighted the necessity of increasing women’s participation in decision-making roles and backing initiatives that fortify their abilities in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution and Iraq’s national and international obligations to safeguard women’s rights.

The President acknowledged the competence and significant sacrifices made by Iraqi women in serving the nation across various fields. He stressed the need for a supportive legislative and institutional environment that would allow women to realize their full potential and contribute their expertise to Iraq’s reform and development initiatives.

Dhifaf Thabit Al-Jarrah informed the President about the team’s principal programs and initiatives in women’s empowerment, social protection, capacity building, and community engagement. She expressed gratitude for the President’s ongoing support for issues related to women and families, as well as his dedication to advancing national efforts aimed at promoting justice and equal opportunities.
