President and Prime Minister Invited to International Forum on Peace in Turkmenistan


Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani have received an invitation to participate in the High-Level International Forum on Peace and Trust, scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received a phone call from his Turkmen counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov. During the call, Meredov expressed appreciation for the meetings between representatives of the Iraqi and Turkmen governments, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and the development of diplomatic relations, along with strengthening economic cooperation in fields of mutual interest.



The statement further mentioned that Meredov extended official invitations to the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister to visit Turkmenistan and participate in the High-Level International Forum on Peace and Trust. This event is to be held in Ashgabat on December 12 under the United Nations’ auspices.



Additionally, the Turkmen Foreign Minister conveyed his best wishes for the success of Iraq’s ongoing electoral process. In response, Fuad Hussein thanked his Turkmen counterpart for the invitation and the call, affirming Iraq’s commitment to strengthening friendly and cooperative relations with Turkmenistan in diplomatic and economic sectors. He noted that the Ministry will study the mechanism of participation in the upcoming forum.
