Baghdad: The High Security Committee for the House of Representatives elections has announced the successful implementation of the election security plan. Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, head of the High Security Committee for Elections, confirmed this achievement during a press conference attended by army, police, and security agency commanders, as well as the head of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Lieutenant General al-Muhammadawi detailed that all ballot boxes and papers reached storage facilities safely by 8:30 AM, transported securely by land and air under the protection of security forces. He noted the absence of security breaches in Baghdad and other provinces throughout the election period, with only minor electoral violations reported. The plan’s execution was praised globally by international organizations and media, marked by the absence of curfews or road closures.

Al-Muhammadawi highlighted that security forces maintained professional
ism by not entering polling stations or influencing voters. He declared this security plan as the most effective compared to previous ones, attributing its success to the collective support of security forces, agencies, and cooperative citizens. He also commended local media for portraying a positive image of the elections, reflecting Iraq’s stability and cooperation between its armed forces and citizens.

The Lieutenant General acknowledged the critical role of security and intelligence services, whose behind-the-scenes efforts in information gathering and timely responses were pivotal to the plan’s success. He expressed optimism for future technological advancements in security operations.

In response to concerns, al-Muhammadawi denied the presence of ISIS in Wadi Houran or other parts of Iraq.
