Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid affirmed that the atrocities committed by ISIS terrorist gangs against the Yazidi community represent one of the most horrific racist and terrorist crimes in modern history, targeting an original Iraqi component deeply rooted in the nation’s heritage.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement marking the anniversary of the Yazidi genocide, the President said: ‘We remember the tragedy perpetrated by ISIS through killings, enslavement, and abductions-an atrocious crime that reflects the brutality of their practices against a peaceful Iraqi community.’

Rashid stressed the need for serious efforts to address the consequences of the genocide, calling for the swift return of all displaced persons to their homes, intensified efforts to uncover the fate of those still missing, and the reinforcement of security and stability in Sinjar and other regions across Iraq.
