Nice: President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, along with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, participated in the opening ceremony of the UN Ocean Conference in Nice, France, on Sunday. The event saw the presence of UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres and several other global leaders and heads of state.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a presidential statement highlighted that French President Emmanuel Macron received President Rashid warmly, expressing gratitude for his attendance and participation in the conference. In addition to this, President Macron extended an invitation to President Rashid to join a dinner in honor of the heads of state and delegations attending the Ocean Conference.

President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid conveyed his appreciation to President Macron and expressed hopes for the conference to succeed in its development objectives. The statement emphasized that Iraq’s involvement in the conference underlines its commitment to supporting global efforts towards sustainable development, protection of marine and water resources from pollution, and combating climate and environmental challenges.

The opening ceremony featured expert and specialist presentations on topics such as the blue economy, finance, science, protection, and adaptation, alongside visits to various pavilions.
