President Visits Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Headquarters on 50th Anniversary


Baghdad: President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, visited the headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Baghdad to commemorate its 50th anniversary. During the visit, he extended his congratulations to the leaders, cadres, and organizations of the PUK, wishing them success in their endeavors to strengthen democracy and human rights across Iraq, and to ensure justice and dignity for citizens in Kurdistan and beyond.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the presidency released a statement detailing the President’s visit and his meeting with Nizar Mohammed Saeed, head of the PUK Political Bureau – Baghdad Organizations. The President engaged with the head and members of the Baghdad Bureau, discussing the PUK’s early days, the efforts of the late President Mam Jalal Talabani, and the sacrifices made by martyrs in the struggle against dictatorship and oppression. He expressed his hope for the PUK leadership, under Pavel Talabani, to continue promoting social justice and democracy.



The statement also highlighted discussions during the meeting on the current political, security, and economic situations both domestically and regionally. The PUK Political Bureau members expressed their appreciation for the President’s visit and reiterated their commitment to serving the people of Kurdistan and Iraq.
