Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the strengthened unity and progress of Iraqi society in recent years, particularly following the victory over terrorism. He remarked on the society’s increased ability and openness to build a modern state during an iftar meal with imams and preachers from various mosques.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani highlighted the societal values of brotherhood and solidarity that have emerged prominently, especially over the past two decades. He noted that these values have helped the nation overcome challenging periods in its history and have fostered a scene of cooperation and fraternity among the people.
Al-Sudani stated that Iraq is progressing well across various sectors, urging the public to disregard detractors who attempt to undermine these achievements. He referenced scientific indicators and reports that reflect Iraq’s development, construction, and stability. He emphasized that the work being done is part of a planned and methodical approach, addressing development gaps discovered through a scientific vision.
The Prime Minister also addressed the threat of drugs, describing it as a dangerous issue targeting the Iraqi populace. He called for collective efforts to tackle this problem and noted the significance of influential societal institutions in combating risks posed by social media and online platforms. He stressed the importance of religious figures in delivering informed and prudent discourse.
During the event, Al-Sudani led a unified congregational prayer and lauded the vital role of mosque imams and preachers. He emphasized the moral value of the mosque pulpit and other religious platforms in promoting humanitarian principles, supporting national unity, preserving social peace, and fostering intellectual openness across all societal segments.
