Prime Minister Al-Zaidi Condemns Attacks on Kurdistan Region as Threats to Iraqi National Security


Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed that any attack on the security of the Kurdistan Region is an attack on Iraqi national security. In a recent telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, al-Zaidi discussed the ongoing attacks targeting several locations in the region.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Zaidi’s media office strongly condemned the recent drone attack that targeted the private office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region and the residence of the Director of the Protection Agency (Parastin). The statement emphasized that these attacks are not just isolated incidents but threats to Iraq’s overall security and stability.



Al-Zaidi reiterated the government’s firm stance against any assaults targeting Iraqi territory, its institutions, or its citizens. He assured that the state will not tolerate any infringement on Iraq’s security and sovereignty. Furthermore, al-Zaidi highlighted that the relevant authorities will thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding these attacks and take legal action against those responsible.



Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Region expressed his gratitude to al-Zaidi for his support and follow-up on the situation. He emphasized the significance of continued coordination and cooperation between the federal government and the regional government to enhance Iraq’s security, stability, and the well-being of its citizens.
