Baghdad:Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi has declared the beginning of a new era of sovereignty, one that is protected by the state and guaranteed by law.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during his speech at the “Sovereignty Day” conference, Al-Zaidi emphasized that Iraq maintains strong political, economic, and security sovereignty across its entire territory, underpinned by the rule of law.
Al-Zaidi highlighted that sovereignty embodies the will of the people to uphold the state’s prestige, serving as the core of Iraq’s national identity. He recalled that two decades ago, Iraqis voted for a permanent constitution amidst challenges, including terrorism and dictatorship remnants. Despite these difficulties, Iraqis have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the state and preventing the misuse of public interests.
The Prime Minister noted that the day marks a significant achievement for Iraq, showcasing the results of perseverance and hard work. He praised the sacrifices of the martyrs and stated that Iraq has now fully established its sovereignty over its land, airspace, and territorial waters.
Al-Zaidi explained that the government has prioritized sovereignty as essential for the country’s future, with the Supreme Religious Authority supporting this direction. The government is actively combating corruption to bolster sovereignty and protect public funds.
Addressing the nation, Al-Zaidi urged the Iraqi people to build on this foundation of sovereignty, turning it into a national consciousness that aligns with the needs of the current and future generations.
